Purpose of the Job
To undertake general vehicle maintenance and routine repairs on the bus fleet, ensuring that all work is carried out in line with the agreed process and to a high standard, and that safety is observed at all times.
Key Accountabilities
- Diagnose defects and effect repairs to engine, gearbox, chassis, axles, steering and brakes.
- Fault diagnose, using specialist equipment relevant to vehicles.
- Repair vehicles to Company and Statutory standards.
- Repair defects and identify with vehicle types
- Prepare vehicles for Annual test/Passing
- Carry out the Lubrications of all vehicles in accordance with company and manufactures guide lines.
- Service vehicles in accordance with Company and vehicle manufacturing specifications and to Company and Statutory standards.
- Maintain documentation as per documented quality procedures.
- Demonstrate flexibility in line with operational requirements.
- Maintain good housekeeping and conform to health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Undertake regular training to maintain technical competence
Experience Knowledge & Qualification Required
- Secondary and further level education with either academic or vocational qualifications and relevant technical and diagnostic experience
- Excellent understanding of the road passenger transport sector, including all relevant legal and external regulations and requirements for the operation of passenger carrying vehicles
- Flexible approach to working hours – able to attend out-of-hours where required to meet service delivery and vehicle audits, and to be able to respond quickly to any “on-call” requirements

Other specific requirements
- Applicant must have fluency and competence in English and Arabic languages to a good standard.

Health & Safety Responsibility

- To refrain from any action that might endanger themselves, other employees, customers or members of the public
- To ensure that all necessary safety precautions are taken and, if they are in a management or supervisory position ensure that instructions are provided
- To report immediately any accidents, incidents or near misses to your line manager as soon as possible and always within 24 hours. This should include both personal injury and vehicle damage
- To attendant cooperate in any investigation following an incident as required. Knowledge of the need for training to enable effective accident investigation essential
- To cooperate with your employer in attending and actively participating in any health and safety related training courses as required
- To report immediately any hazard, faulty equipment or health and safety concern to your line manager and ensure action is taken to make the hazard safe e.g., fencing them off, using signs etc.
- To be aware of your personal security and the security of your vehicle or place of work
- Comply with all company policies including the Safety and Environmental policy statements; and in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and company policy, adhere to the Drugs and Alcohol Policy
- To be aware of the fire and emergency arrangements for my location and each location visited

- You must be aware of the persons appointed to comply with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations and Fire Precautions arrangements
- Rules, Competencies, Permits & Licences
- You must ensure that general safety responsibilities and other operating publications are received and understood by you
- You must be in possession of any safety publications before you take up your post: Rule books, Working instructions, Policies.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- You are responsible for ensuring that you are issued with, sign for and wear any necessary PPE in accordance with the appropriate instructions
- You will be issued with the following PPE on a personal basis:
- High Visibility Clothing
- Safety Footwear
- Safety Goggles (as required)
- Safety Helmet (as required)
- Safe Systems of Work
- You are responsible for complying with safe systems of work
- You are responsible for ensuring that you receive the necessary training
- Other details
- Comply with all company policies including the Safety and Environmental policy statements; and in accordance with the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and company policy, adhere to the Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
- You must comply with the company procedure for the Control of Hazardous Substances.
- Auditing and Safety Checks
- You are responsible for assisting in any safety audits being undertaken
- You are responsible for ensuring that all substances used in the cleaning of any items/area are used in accordance with the specified control measures, including the use of PPE where identified through assessment
- You are responsible for ensuring that you only use materials and equipment used for bus/station/depot cleaning which have been purchasing in accordance with the company’s procurement procedure
- You have legal responsibilities for yourself and others under legislation
- Line manager accountable for the safety of their staff / teams
- Essential to have knowledge and ideally, experience of delivering health & safety inductions. Strategic safety management training essential. Knowledge of manual handling and the risks essential. VFL training essential. Knowledge of the core requirements relevant to a professional environmental body/institute essential
